About

Dr. José Rivera-Acosta is a board-certified gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist with more than 15 years of clinical practice and research experience. As a Principal Investigator at Latin Clinical Trial Center, he has led numerous Phase II and III clinical trials focused on liver disease, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), cirrhosis, inflammatory bowel disease, and other gastrointestinal disorders. He is recognized for his commitment to advancing innovative therapies in hepatology and gastroenterology while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Dr. Rivera-Acosta earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Gastroenterology at the University of Puerto Rico, followed by advanced fellowship training in Liver Transplant Hepatology at Emory University. In addition to his clinical research activities, he serves on the faculty of Hospital Auxilio Mutuo and the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, contributing to the education and training of future physicians.
